Indian Army test fired Agni-I ballistic missile successfully from Odisha coast’s test range in the part of user trial.
» Agni-I is completely indigenously build nuclear capable ballistic missile.
» The missile tested from launch pad-4 of ITR (Integrated Test Range) at Wheeler Island (Abdul Kalam Island).
» In march 2016 Agni I was successfully test fired from the same place.
About Agni-I missile:
» Agni-I is surface-to-surface ballistic missile and intermediate range nunlear capable missile.
» Agni I is the first missile of the series. At first it was launched in 1983.
» The missile was constructed by DRDO and Defence Research Development Laboratory and Research Centre Imarat and integrated by Bharat Dynamics Limited, Hyderabad.
» 12 tonnes weight and 15 mt long missile
» It can carry above 1 tonne payload.
» Agni I is single stage missile powered by solid propellants.
» The missile can reach about 700 km target.
» We can extend the target distance by reducing the payload. It can be launched from road and rail mobile launchers.
» It has a strong navigation system which helps the missile to reach target accurately.
